If your time at Trinity is coming to a close and you want to preserve your Gmail and My Drive data, you can use the Google Takeout tool to back up or transfer your data.
- Google Takeout - To backup/transfer your TIU Gmail data (Gmail emails, Google Drive, etc..), you can use the Google Takeout tool. (FYI, your TIU email and credentials are deactivated after two consecutive semesters after graduation or un-enrollment. Back up your account before then.)
To Backup your TIU Gmail data to files
- Ensure you have sufficient storage on your computer. Otherwise, you may need to use an external USB drive.
- Go to takeout.google.com (ensuring only your TIU account is signed in) and follow the instructions to start the process.
- It will take time for Google to prepare your files. You will receive an email when ready.
- Once ready, you can start downloading your files, using the link provided in the email.
To transfer your TIU Gmail data to a Personal Gmail account, use the takeout.google.com/takeout tool.
- Move everything you would like to keep into your TIU Google Drive. (optional, it would be a good time to backup to an external USB Drive as a redundant backup)
- Make sure you have a personal Gmail account with sufficient storage space. You may need to purchase extra storage if the data you're moving exceeds the 15Gb free account limit.
- Go to takeout.google.com/takeout
(making sure only your TIU account is signed in) and follow the instructions to start the transfer. Please note that it does take a few days or weeks depending on the amount of data, so starting the process as soon as possible is advised.
